OpenDSS-G by Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)
OpenDSS-G is EPRI’s next-generation distribution system simulation environment built on the OpenDSS lineage. It provides high-fidelity, unbalanced three-phase power flow and time-series analyses for large-scale distribution feeders and networks. The platform is designed to assess the impacts of distributed energy resources (DER), evaluate volt/VAR control strategies, perform hosting capacity studies, and support grid modernization initiatives. It emphasizes scalability, scenario management, and interoperability with external tools and data sources, enabling co-simulation and automated workflows for planning, operations support, and research.
